Training Programs
Each year I take in a limited amount of horses for full time training programs, these include youngsters learning for the very first time, horses starting ridden work young or old, behavioural and physical rehabilitation, horses coming back in to training after injury or a break, problem solving for horses who are not quite right but don't have a physical diagnosis and those simply looking to help their horses be happier and healthier for longer.

Gadget free, simple gear, solid training.

Ground & Inhand Work
The starting point for all good training, programs are personalised to be age appropriate & suitable for all levels, breeds & disciplines.

Pre-Starting
Introducing everything your horse will need to know before commencing ridden work including laying the foundations for correct physical and mental development.

Starting
Includes all ground, in hand and pre-starting work, strengthening mind and body and transferring skills to ridden work.

Rehabilitation
Getting to the bottom of and resolving behavioural or physical issues big or small with compassion and clarity.

Strength & Soundness
Every horse deserves to be performing at their best, moving optimally, staying sound.

Problem Solving
Finding the root of an issue so it can truly be resolved, no gadgets, no gimmicks just a different perspective.

Off The Track Retraining
Helping your Thoroughbred transition smoothly from track life, settling anxious minds and redeveloping ridden work.

Kissing Spines
Whether preventative or maintenance, movement that strengthens the spine is crucial for a healthy, sound horse.

"You can never rely on a horse that has been educated by fear.
There will always be something he fears more than you.
But when he trusts you, he will ask you what to do when he is afraid.”

Timeframes, Fees & Inclusions
Every Program Includes:

+ Spacious, well maintained paddocks with electric or post and rail fencing. Ad lib grass hay, as necessary.
Rug changes as needed (rugs to be provided by owner).
PLUS...
+ Health from the inside out
During their stay your horse will receive a balanced, high fibre, low sugar diet including premium grade vitamin/mineral supplements.
A good diet ensures we can get to the root cause of any behavioural issues, sets your horse up to tone that topline and helps minimise stress and anxiety.
Feeding up to 3x/day and able to cater for any specialised health requirements, additional supplements can be added by request (fees apply).
+ Muscle maintenance
As your horse enters into a regular training routine and starts to develop physically, just like after a workout, it can be expected that they may experience some tightness or soreness through their body. This is carefully monitored and training strategic to maximise progress but minimise discomfort.
Regular grooming and basic release and massage, relieves tension and is also a great experience!
Additional body work assessments & treatments by an experienced & qualified professional, using a combination of myotherapy, osteopathy and laser acupuncture, can also be easily arranged (associated fees apply) - if there is suspicion of any underlying physical issues, strains or soreness or to keep your horse progressing to the fullest during their program, this is a great option.
+ Regular Hoofcare
Your horse's hooves will be maintained on a regular hoofcare schedule (~5-6 weekly interval) with a patient, professional farrier (associated fees apply). Combined with training techniques, any hoof handling issues can be addressed while building positive experiences for routine healthcare.
Do you have a fabulous farrier you'd like to use during your horse's stay? We're happy for your horse to stick with their regular routine if you'd prefer and your current farrier services the area.
no hoof, no horse...no problem.
Hoof issues and angles can affect posture and movement. If you'd like to rule out any hoof issues that might affect your horse's training or comfort or have a horse needing corrective or specialist work, professional assessments, x-rays and gait analysis can be arranged (specialist farriery fees apply).
+Fecal Egg Count
Our paddocks are well managed, rested and rotated regularly, to ensure worm burdens are controlled as best as possible.
An initial fecal egg count will be taken from all horses on arrival and wormer administered subject to results. If a wormer is required associated fees apply.
+ TWO 1:1 sessions
When it comes time to take to be reunited with your equine partner, learn how to operate and understand the control panel to ensure you can continue making progress at home! These extended 1:1 sessions allow you the time you need to feel confident and comfortable together. Additional sessions are welcomed and can be added as needed (fees apply).
And don't worry, we LOVE hearing about all horse and human students so if you get stuck at home - the door is always open! With a regular clinic and workshop schedule there is always a chance to brush up or refresh your skills!
ADDITIONAL EXTRAS

- Dental Check Up
if your horse hasn't had a dental check up, hasn't worn a bridle before or is due for their regular appointment, this can easily be arranged (examination fees apply, no charge for bringing in/out and we'll be there to 'hold your horse's hoof' during the exam!)
AND if you'd like a more in depth exam or your horse needs sedation, a veterinary dental exam can also be arranged (service fees apply).
- Gastroscopy (stomach ulcers)
... does your horse show discomfort during grooming, girthing or saddling?
Stomach and hind gut ulcers are unfortunately common in our equine friends and can become especially prevalent during times of stress, or may have developed in the past. Left untreated they can cause mild to severe discomfort and a wide range of behavioural issues on the ground or under saddle.
If you'd like to rule out ulcers as a potential cause of unwanted behaviour or discomfort, a veterinary gastroscopy can be arranged on the property (veterinary fees apply). Pre-exam protocols can be followed at no extra charge and we'll be with your horse every step of the way, during and after the exam, keeping you updated as we go.
Saddle fits & recommendations
Once your horse has been upgraded to the sports edition or your young horse is now all grown up, you might want to start the search for your perfect saddle or make sure your current saddle still works for your both!
Assessments can be arranged onsite (consult and fitting fees apply) and we're happy to be there and pass on any information if you're unable to be.

Estimated Timeframes
These estimated training timeframes are a rough guide for planning purposes only, each horse is assessed and trained on an individual basis dependent on the requirements of the horse for the most successful outcome. Owners will be consulted throughout the process.
Timeframes do not include breaks/spelling between training periods, many horses demonstrate physical and mental benefits and achieve optimal progress, when breaks in training are incorporated. The length and timing of these are assessed on an individual basis.
Pre-starting, Ground Training, Initial fitness building ~ 4-5 weeks
Starting, Re-education & full Return to Work ~ 12-14 weeks
